Before
and After Host Hardware Offload
Figure 1 below depicts the percentage of CPU power used
by TCP/IP processing as compared with a typical server
application.
The image on the left shows a typical ratio of CPU
processing distribution before Tehuti Networks’ offloading
technology is integrated on a platform. Only a very
limited amount of CPU power is available for the applications,
with the vast majority of CPU power being monopolized
by the TCP/IP processing tasks.
The image on the right shows the significant benefits achieved after integrating
Tehuti Networks’ host hardware offload solution. The CPU's involvement in TCP/IP processing
drops considerably, extensively increasing the time it allocates to its applications,
thus increasing the CPU’s efficiency by decreasing the valuable time and/or
memory bandwidth being dedicated to TCP/IP processing.

*
Tehuti Networks’ Technology Advantages
- Power budgets and costs similar to those of the
simple MAC.
- Near 10Gbps line rate performance.
- The host hardware offload controller can be implemented in the same
manner as a regular LAN on Motherboard (LOM) or Network
Interface Card (NIC). The chip replaces
the MAC of any standard TCP/IP connection.
